Punkte und Striche in Bewegung

The participants will create short, abstract animated films together with Austrian artists. They experiment either with colors on paper or with different objects on work surfaces. In addition, simple digital images could be created to express feelings in connection with music.

This way, the children learn to understand how movement in films is created through film tricks, which are then put together and displayed on the computer. The participants can work on clips either alone or with friends in small teams.
No experience necessary!

Die Teilnehmer*innen können gemeinsam mit österreichischen Künstler*innen kurze, abstrakte Animationsfilme erstellen. Es wird entweder mit Farben auf Papier oder mit verschiedenen Objekten auf Arbeitsflächen experimentiert. Außerdem können einfache digitale Bilder erstellt werden, die in Verbindung mit Musik auf ähnliche Weise Gefühle ausdrücken können.

So lernen die Kinder zu verstehen, wie durch Filmtricks Bewegungen entstehen, die dann am Computer zusammengesetzt und dargestellt werden.
Die Teilnehmer*innen können entweder alleine, oder auch mit Freunden in kleinen Teams an Clips arbeiten.
Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich!

Felix Weisz, born in Wels, is working as a freelance filmmaker and motion grapher in Vienna. He completed his art studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna with an animation film and has been working as a motion graphics lecturer at SAE Vienna since 2019. He led workshops for animation (2019) with students at the University of Applied Sciences and for film editing (2020) with children and adults at the Technisches Museum Wien.

Anna FitzSimons, born in Ireland, is a visual artist and filmmaker living in Austria. She has substantial experience both as a member of production teams in the international animation industry and as an independent designer of artistic animated films. She has worked in positions including direction, production and animation for TV and feature film, e.g. on “Song of the Sea” nominated in 2015 for an “Oscar”, the Academy Awards for the best international animated film and the brand new Cartoon Saloon production “Wolfwalkers” (2020).
